I have Cousins

I know it sounds funny, but meeting my 1st cousin, Jess, (she's 27) for the first time was like finding a long lost family heirloom...my sisters and I really missed not having cousins around. It was a thrill to see the "Wertz" name on someone else's luggage...we were like, oh my gosh, that's our name. My dad was a little over protective of making sure she went to bed early...but it was wonderful to see how pleased he was that we were together. We have 6 1st cousins from my dad's only brother. Jess started emailing back and forth with Brandi and the next thing you know, she booked a flight to come meet us...quite a brave thing to do without knowing what we were like...yes, we are weird, but in a normal way! One of her brothers looks just like what "our" brother would look like, you could see a lot of my dad's traits. It was so fun, I hated for her to go, but know that this is only the first step in bringing the Wertz cousins together! There is something to be said about family...blood is thicker than water!!!

Cole's #1

Cole hit the first homerun of his career tonight and pitched an incredible game, a no-hitter thru 5 innings. They won 9-1! Way to go Cole...I knew you had it in you!!!!

Let's play some baseball

Here are a few photos from opening day! Cole is on the Major A's with Rick coaching 1st base, & Chris is on the Angels in Farm division! We're looking to see some great baseball from these two!

Chris' Baptism

Chris finally got dunked! In typical Christopher fashion, he embarrassed his mom with his "class clown character"... you know how he eats it up when he's the center of attention! I was at death's door the entire week, so I am grateful to have been able to pull off creating his"most special day" as he called it. Rick did a beautiful job, but he missed his cousins & aunts, and uncles who weren't there! I made a slide show of his first 8 years and played it while he & Rick got ready. I was so not thinking clearly that I forgot to take any pictures...the only ones I have were taken quickly by a friend of mine. Sorry family! My mom gave Chris the quilt she had made for her dad (Baby Papa), he loves it...especially because it was his! In his journal, he wrote "Today was my baptism. Now I have to repent." But then, the next day when we were talking about asking for forgiveness, he said "I wish I were 7." Out of the mouth of babes! He is a kick!!!
